Fees College Preparatory Middle School

OUR ROOTS

Fees College Preparatory Middle School, known as Fees Intermediate School at the time, opened it's doors in 1979. It was named in honor of longtime Tempe Elementary Schools leader, O.S. "Sam" Fees.

Fees began his long history with the District in 1947 as a teacher at Tenth Street School. He was named Superintendent in 1962 and remained in that position until 1975. During this time of monumental growth, Fees directed the construction of 18 schools. He was often seen carrying blueprints under his arm as he trekked around the District, checking the many building projects underway.
